American Political Science Association
Status Committee on Graduate Students in the Profession
Tenure: August 2016 – August 2018
The goal of the Committee is to bring attention to issues and concerns affecting PhD students in the discipline. During my tenure on the committee, we worked to develop a guide for graduate students attending the Annual Meeting of APSA. Additionally, the committee sponsored a professional development round table on navigating the academic job market at the annual committee meeting in Boston, Massachusetts in September. As a member of the committee, I also worked to develop teaching material and resources (forthcoming on the APSA website) for graduate students when beginning to teach in the discipline. Alongside other status committees on Political Science Education, Contingent Faculty in the Profession, and Community Colleges in the Profession, we developed annual reports to provide input to the APSA council and staff on policies and program initiatives to support our goals in improving our groups representation and status in the profession.
